Foxy Ladies of 2010

with 2 comments

I’m kind of wanting to push the limits of this blog in directions it probably shouldn’t be pushed. For instance, the post below is probably not really “kosher” for a lot of politically correct readers, but then again I’m not Jewish. I’m kind of having fun with this site and judging by the subscriptions, I think you all are to. So, as a joke, I thought of reviewing all the failed dates I went on this year like how John Madden does with football. “Well, here’s where Drew really messes up (circles my hand on a glass; slow mo of it spilling on girl’s shirt). Yeah, that’s definitely gonna hurt his chances to advance to the second round, Bob. Should have reviewed her stats and gone with a movie instead.” As funny as that would be, I think I’m just going to do this instead. One thing I do lack on here is comments though, so if you’d like to add a girl to the list, feel free- you can even nominate yourself! Here’s a short list of 2010’s foxy ladies.

Foxy Lady Hall of Fame: Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane. I first encountered Miss Slick while thumbing through a Girl Skateboards catalog. I love Girl Skateboards, no pun intended. First of all, they consistently have the best guys on their team (Koston, Mariano, Capaldi, Carroll, Olson, etc.) Next, they have great board constructions and wonderful shapes. Also, their art department pumps out really nice graphics- like the series where I first saw Grace Slick. They did a series of famous females for each skater and this was Koston’s. I became enamored with this chick right away- especially because she looks exactly like this girl I’m crushing on back at State. I eventually learned this was Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane, the voice behind one of the best psychedelic bands ever (“Somebody to Love”, “White Rabbit”, etc.) I think the thing that draws me to her is a combination of the following: the girl’s natural beauty, the fact she has artistic talents, and that middle finger she’s giving me- sassy. So, Grace Slick, without further ado, I induct you into the Foxy Lady Hall of Fame. http://bigearflux.wordpress.com/2008/03/06/ahhh-grace-slick-parte-2/

Foxy Girl I Wish I Was In My Band: Rachel Hirsh of I Was Totally Destroying It. I was getting local music from the radio station the other day and saw this girl. You see, I’m the grunge DJ at the radio station, which basically means I fulfill the role of the goth kid there. This used to bother me, but I recently came to the conclusion that if anyone’s “underground”, I’m probably in the running for it- sort of ironic. Grunge isn’t everything for me by any means- it’s just such a cool time to research in my opinion. I love hip hop, metal, indie rock, blues, jazz, classical, folk, and of course punk. Punk rock literally changed my life, but that’s another post. Anyways, I was looking to see what I’d like locally, and this peaked my interest because of the band’s name (it sounds like something I’d say a lot.) The picture of Rachel Hirsh and company didn’t hurt either, so I slipped it under my stack of CD’s. Turns out, this was a really good band! One of my automatic favorite local groups. This girl vibes me mainly because: she’s got a cute, confident look about her, she has legit talent, and she’s holding a skull with absolutely no pretext. The photographer was probably like, “Alright, Joe, and here’s a skull for you to…” Rachel  steps in and grabs it. “Oh no, I’m holding the skull. Yeah. This looks good on me. Go ahead and take the picture, buddy.” I wonder if they could use a harmonica player? http://iwtdi.blogspot.com/

Foxiest Wizard: Actress Emma Watson. I don’t know anything about Harry Potter. I do know Hermine is hot though. I heard in real life, she goes to Brown, so she’s got to be smart and that shows she’s not just milking this Hollywood thing either. That, coupled with the fact she knows how to practice the dark arts makes her by far the sexiest sorceress of 2010. Feel free to “conjure” up your own jokes about Emma and wands. http://campbelld.wordpress.com/2009/11/19/whats-emma-watson-looking-at-today-day-one/

Foxy Science Teacher I Never Had: that chick from MythBusters. I still can’t remember this girl’s name, but that doesn’t take away anything from her foxiness. What makes this girl cute is the fact she’s got brains- you don’t always get both these days (goes for both guys and gals.) She also seems really nice, which is another thing that doesn’t always seem to happen and which is the prime quality I value in people. Besides, she knows how to use an acetylene torch and do calculus. It’s no myth this girl is hella foxy. http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2010/10/kari-byron-joins-the-geekmom-crew/

Foxiest Skateboarder: Marisa del Santo. This girl kills it, and I don’t mean “kills it…for a girl”, no. She fucking kills it for all skateboarders. I used to ride Zero skateboards for a couple of years (the same company she rides for), and that’s just before this girl blew up on the scene. Girl’s skateboarding has gotten better and better every year and 2010 seemed to be the year that broke the boundary between girl and boy skaters- thanks in large part to people like Marisa. She has such amazing style- chaotic yet so smooth. The way the arms flail and the knees bend are impeccable, and that’s why she’s one of my favorite skaters period. Her trick selection is refreshing too- flips into handrails, creative no comply variations, tuck knee grabs down massive drops, even a cannonball 50-50 on a big rail; those are impressive for any one! Of all the ladies on this list, Marisa probably the one I’d want to hang out with the most. She’s so gnarly, yet still so foxy- she’s gnoxy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p44TIA0Dlvk

Foxy Lady of Ill Repute: Adult Film Starlet Lexi Belle. As Rick James would say, this ain’t the kind you bring home to mother. I’m not really interested in the carnal vices any more, but a foxy girl is a foxy girl- no matter what she does for a living. In all honesty, this girl really is beautiful and she has an ironically sweet charm to her. Still, Google at your own risk. This was the only picture I could find of Miss Belle without her…well, yeah. http://yfrog.com/h31echsj

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. More content on the way. Later!

My only other true skater friend posted this on his facebook a while ago. I thought I recognized her name so I checked.

Like the foxies. Good choices so far!
